Flood Media Release 6 - 1645 Hours

The State Highway from Whakatane to Tauranga is open (two lane only with caution) and the road from Whakatane to Opotiki is open. The road to Kawerau and Rotorua is open. There is debris and mud on all roads, so travel with care.

Road closure:

· Stanley Rd – closed from top of Waimana gorge
· Maraetotara Rd – closed –(trees down).

All other roads open:

· SH2 Whakatane to Opotiki via Taneatua and Waimana
· Hauone Rd – unsealed section – roadside scouring- drive with care
· Taneatua Rd (one lane)
· Matata Straights to Tauranga (two lanes with caution)
· Ohope Hill open with care
· Wainui Road (open with care)
· Waiotahi Bluffs (one lane only)
· Valley Road (one lane)
· Manawahe Rd from Caverhill to Matata with caution- lots of minor slips
· Mimiha Rd- open with care
· McCoy Rd with caution
· Herepururu Road (two lanes- open with caution- lots of small slips)
· Pikowai Road (one lane with caution – slips )
