Porirua Police are investigating an aggravated robbery at Clockwork Gold bar in Tawa yesterday morning.

Detective Constable Sarah Waugh says a man entered Clockwork Gold just after 11 o'clock, armed with a screwdriver and demanded that the bar manager open the safe.

"The offender was either of Maori or Pacific descent, aged between 18 and 30 years of age, of medium build. He was wearing a blue/grey hooded sweatshirt and tan coloured trousers."

Detective Constable Waugh says after leaving Clockwork Gold with an amount of money, the offender walked through the Woolworths carpark and discarded his hooded sweatshirt into the stream near Tawa Railway Station, which Police have since recovered.

"We are urging anyone with information to call Police immediately. If you know who this offender is please either call the Porirua Police Station or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
