Fire - Tahunanui School

At 1220am on the morning of Tuesday the 15th June 2010, a suspicious fire occurred at Tahunanui School, 69 Muritai Streeet, Tahunanui, Nelson.

NZ Fire Service units attended and extinguished the fire, however one classroom received fire damage to an exterior wall, and smoke and water damage to the interior of the classroom.

Police patrols of the area located a man in a vehicle near the school and when spoken to he admitted setting fire to the classroom.

Police have charged a 22 year old Nelson man with Arson. He will be appearing in the Nelson District Court on the 15th June 2010.
