Council’s support of art in our city is still up for discussion, but time is running out.

Submissions on the Nelson City Council’s new Arts Policy close this Wednesday (June 16 2010) and anyone with an interest in the arts is urged to have their say.

The draft policy follows from the Nelson Tasman Regional Arts Strategy approved in 2009.

Chair of the Arts Policy Working Party, Councillor Ali Boswijk, says she is looking forward to hearing community views on how Council can encourage the arts to flourish in Nelson.

Once submissions have closed there will be a hearing for those wishing to speak to their submission and then the amended Arts Policy will be presented to Council for adoption next month.

Full copies of the draft Arts Policy can be viewed at Civic House, 110 Trafalgar Street, Nelson, at any Nelson Public Library or online at: www.nelsoncitycouncil.co.nz search phrase arts policy.

You can also have a policy posted out to you by phoning Council on 546 2000 or emailing enquiries@nelsoncitycouncil.co.nz
