Cadbury, the Dunedin City Council and New Zealand International Science Festival have joined forces to bring the public a fabulous, action packed day of food, discovery and fun for everyone. The inaugural Fun & Food Fiesta will be held at the Lion Foundation Arena from 10am to 3pm on Sunday 11 July.

During the middle of winter in the South, stay warm and fire up your senses with local and regional food delicacies, wine tasting, live entertainment and loads of activities for the kids. Children can play on the giant inflatable castles, horizontal bungy, enjoy a magic show and learn about native frogs with Freddo and much more.

Adults can check out the food stands, where taste buds collide with delicious food and wine.

Enjoy immersing yourself in a food playground with cooking demonstrations using local produce, talks and displays. A Cadbury chocolate demonstration by renowned local chef Michael Coughlin is not to be missed. Also as part of the Fiesta activities the Cadbury dessert competition finalists will be judged live during the day by Pier 24 chef Greg Piner. Piner will be responsible for selecting and awarding the winner of the dessert competition being held in participating restaurants around Dunedin during the month of July.

Visiting science rapper and biologist Tom McFadden from Stanford (USA) will be on hand to help finalists compete for the title of New Zealand’s first ever ‘science idol’. Scheduled informative talks will be held throughout the day including; Life on a Coral Island with Adam Thompson from the University of Otago; or a discussion with Rhys Millar on whether Harbour Cone, on the Otago Peninsula can feed our city? Dr Katherine Black from the University of Otago will discuss whether sports drinks are the right option for you. Join Forest & Bird’s Kirstie Knowles in an interesting discussion on seafood choices, and how can we ensure there is enough for future generations?

Kids can enter a fun colouring in competition and win a Cadbury World Family Pass. Get one A4 piece of paper and draw a picture of your favourite family day out and tell us in 10 words or less about your picture. Bring your entry on the day, winners announced at 12pm.

Entry is affordable at $12 Family Pass (2 adults and up to 4 children), Adults $8, Students $5 (aged 13-17 years), Extra Child $2 (12 years and under).
