Police appeal for Onehunga driver to come forward
Police are appealing to the driver of a stolen vehicle that crashed killing a 25 year old female "to do the right thing and come forward"
At about 10pm on Friday night, a stolen Nissan pulsar crashed into a house at Arthur St, Onehunga.
The vehicle had earlier been stolen from Watea Road, Mt Roskill.
One or more people have run from the vehicle following the crash. These people left the crash scene in a second stolen vehicle.
This vehicle, a white Mitsubishi Galant was stolen from Hill Street Onehunga shortly before the fatal crash.
The stolen Mitsubishi was found at 5pm Saturday evening in Te Ra Road, Point Chevalier.
Following the crash, emergency services located 3 females in the crashed vehicle. Unfortunately a 25 year old female died as a result of injuries sustained, two other females aged 16 and 17 years were in a critical condition. Both have severe injuries but are expected to survive.
Next of kin of the deceased female are still being contacted and her name is not available.
"It’s too late now to change the outcome of the crash but the driver needs to do the right thing and come forward" says Inspector Kerry Watson.
Both vehicles and scenes are been forensically examined to assist in identifying the driver. Several people are also assisting police with their enquiries.
