Slip closes one lane in Waikato

Police are attending to a rock/land slip along State Highway 30 between Benneydale and Whakamaru.

This stretch of road is a two way roadway. One lane is completely closed and the other is now a controlled-lane used for traffic travelling in both directions.

The slip is estimated to be closer to the Whakamaru side and is in the vicinity of the native forest scenic drive near the Totara walk track.

The NZ Transport Agency has also been called to this location to assist with diversions.

Motorists are urged to stay away from this area if at all possible.
