18 year old arrested after Matapihi stabbing

At about 11.30am yesterday (Thursday 24 June) Police were called to a Matapihi address after a report a male had been stabbed.

Police began a search for the suspect who was known to the victim.

A local 18 year old unemployed male was located at a nearby address shortly after 12pm. He will be appearing in the Tauranga District Court today (25/06/10) on two serious assault charges and threatening to kill.

There were two victims as a result of the incident.

A 44 year old male was treated for a stab wound and a 19 year old female for a head injury at the Tauranga A&E department. Both were discharged this afternoon.

Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident.
