Nominations have opened for the 2010 Southland Export Recognition Awards which are to be held September 3 this year.

The awards are bi annual and are to recognise the importance of export to Southland and its economy and to identify the persons and organisations that contribute to the regions wellbeing.

There are traditionally 2 categories, of recognition, an individual and a company or organisation, however this year is a little different.

Mr. Hay C.E.O Chamber Southland said “This year is a little bit special, the Export Forum wish to pay a special tribute to the tolerant Spouse/ Partner who goes beyond the call of duty, a category has been added to do this and the theme of the event will reflect it.”

The category is ‘recognition of the support person’
Mr. Hay said that this is in appreciation for the support and commitment that an exporters Spouse/Partner gives to assisting the export activity through the absence of a partner while overseas and in the long hours required within the business.

An event dinner is to be held at the Victoria rooms with Jackie Clark as the MC and entertainment.
“The previous 2 events were by invitation only but past interest has been so strong that we have gone to a larger venue and maybe this will able open invitations.” Mr. Hay said

In the meantime nominations for awards are open with forms being available from the Chamber’s office or on line at www.commercesouth.com.
Nominations close August 6.
