Police investigate death - Christchurch

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Murton says that the Christchurch Southern CIB is investigating the death of a 10 year old girl at Christchurch Hospital in the early hours of Sunday 11 July 2010.
She had been admitted at 9.30am on Friday 9th July. Police are talking to her family about events leading up to her admission.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Murton says the family are co-operating fully with the investigation team. The family's property address has being forensically examined. This examination was conducted with the assistance and consent of the family. The house has now been released back to the family.

A post-mortem has taken place but the results will not be known for at least 2 weeks.

The girl's body has now also been released back to the family.
