GREYMOUTH

At about 6am this morning a middle aged male died after the vehicle he was driving left the road ending up at the bottom of a steep bank on the Taylorville Road near Greymouth. The surviving occupant was transported to Christchurch Hospital with serious spinal injuries.

The two Australian men had just arrived in New Zealand to deliver training at a local mining company.

The Police are yet to determine the exact cause of the crash but state the frost and icy conditions at the time would have been a major contributor for the crash.

The Police are still trying to make contact with next of kin in Australia.
