Kayaker flown to hospital with hypothermia

Police were advised of a kayaker that had fallen into the water off of the coast at Eastborne, Wellington just before 10am today.

A short search involving the police from Lower Hutt, the police launch Lady Elizabeth III, and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was commenced.

After twenty five minutes two kayakers were located on shore in the area of Burdens Gate. Both were airlifted to Wellington Hospital with one of the kayakers suffering from hypothermia.
