Robbery - Gisborne

The Gisborne CIB are investing the robbery of an English tourist who had her hand bag and it's contents stolen from her following a brief struggle as she was walking along Gladstone Road between Gray and Cobden street at approximately 10.30 pm last night.

The bag was stolen by the occupant of a car which was located approximately 30 minutes later by a police patrol vehicle.

Two persons have been arrested in connection with the incident, a 21 year old male from Hastings has been arrested and charged with 'Robbery' and a 21 year old female from Tikitiki has been arrested and charged with being an 'accessory after the fact'.

The 21 year old male will appear in the Gisborne District Court today where his bail will be opposed and the 21 year old female has been bailed to re appear at the Gisborne District Court at a later date.

The victim was not physically injured during the incident and is receiving assistance from the local Victim Support team. The victim's property has been recovered.

Unfortunately the victim was due to leave the Gisborne area this morning but has had to curtail part of her holiday to assist the investigation.
