Organisers of the Electra Business Awards for Horowhenua and Kapiti are standing by for a rush of entries in the next few days.

For more than two months, businesses have been able to register their interest and, subsequently, have access to an electronic entry form.

Sponsorship and Event Manager, Kirsten Kilmister knows there are businesses that have still not got around to submitting their entry form and she’s urging them to complete by the closing date on Monday (19 July).

She says that on the whole the entry process has worked well, as has the assistance to entrants that is available through Jeff Smith of Boost Business.

The effort is worth it according to Christine Vendt – Owner/Manager, Undercover Secrets Lingerie, Paraparaumu Beach and judged Small Business of the Year 2009. “We found the entry process good to work through – it took time but was very beneficial as it makes you reflect and question what you’re doing and why" she said.

This is backed up by Sheils Carnihan - Owner/Manager, NumberWorks'nWords Kapiti, the business achieving awards in the Staff Development & Emerging Business of the Year categories in 2009. “It wasn't arduous because of the benefits in completing each section. I enjoyed the Assessors visit - it went very smoothly as they had done their homework before coming into the business and it was a focused meeting” she said.
