Pedestrian killed by truck in Northland

At approximately 3.50am this morning a male pedestrian appears to have wandered into the path of a truck on SH1 near the intersection of George Street, Hikurangi.

The male appears to have been killed instantly.

The Serious Crash Unit carried out an scene examination.

SH 1 in Hikurangi was been reduced to one lane.

The driver of the truck is unhurt but badly shaken.
