The second of the Navy’s ANZAC Class frigates, HMNZS TE MANA, will visit Dunedin from Saturday 8 September to Tuesday 11 September.

After showing the flag internationally this year and having completed a work up period prior to commencing a range of operations and diplomatic taskings around South East Asia, Australia and the Indian sub-continent (Andaman Islands) over a 5 month period, HMNZS TE MANA is enjoying a relatively rare opportunity to do likewise around New Zealand, albeit briefly, with port visits to Timaru and Dunedin.

Fresh from a successful visit to his hometown of Timaru, the Commanding Officer of TE MANA, Temuka born and bred Commander Wilson Trumper, is looking forward to bringing the frigate into the Port of Dunedin, berthing at 12:00 noon. Among the various activities planned, two special tasks include community projects to be undertaken by HMNZS TE MANA personnel at the Crippled Children Society Disability Action and Monticello Veteran’s Home and Hospital between 1 pm and 3:45 pm on Monday 10 September.

Commander Trumper and his crew of 163 men and women extend a warm welcome to the public of Dunedin and invite you to visit the ship and meet the personnel of your Navy from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm on Sunday 9 September.

HMNZS TE MANA will depart Dunedin on Tuesday 11 September.
