6-year-old struck by vehicle

11.35pm - Police and Fire are attending a crash on Great North Rd in the Henderson suburb of Auckland.

A vehicle has struck a 6 year old girl as shes crossing the road with her grandmother.

She has suffered head injuries which have been described as critical and possibly life threatening.

She has been transported to Starship hospital for treatment. The road is closed whilst Police are examinig the scene and traffic travelling west are being directed right, into McLeod Rd exiting in Teatatu Rd. Traffic travelling east (opposite direction) are being diverted either through Edmonton or View Rd.

Motorists are advised to avoid this area it at all possible in their travels.
