Two assaulted in Dunedin carpark

Two males aged 23 and 24 years made a complaint to the Dunedin Police today that they were assaulted by a group of males in the early hours of this morning the 25th July 2010 when walking through the rear car park of McDonalds Central.

Circumstances are at about 04.10am the two males came out of McDonalds and were walking through the rear car park towards Great King Street when they were confronted and abused by a group of approximately six males.

These males were unknown to the two victims.

One of the victims responded to this group and was set upon. He was punched and kicked about the head and body. He suffered facial injuries and a suspected broken nose.

The other male victim went to his friend's aid and was punched about the head. He suffered minor facial injuries.

The victims managed to break away from this group and made their way to Dunedin Hospital.

The offenders were described as a group of six youths aged about 16 to 18 years old.

It is believed that this group of youths could have been hanging around the rear car park of McDonalds for some period of time.

Police would like to hear from anyone who has information as to the identity of the youths or who were in the area at that time and witnessed the assault.
