Woman attacked on way home from work

A 26 year old female made a complaint to the Dunedin Police today that she was attacked by a male whilst walking home in the Dunedin suburb of St Clair in the early hours of this morning the 25th July 2010.

Circumstances are the victim finished work and was walking home at about 02.20am this morning. She became aware of a male following her as she walked down Victoria Road.

The victim has turned into Hargest Crescent and the male has continued to follow her.

As she got to the corner of intersection of Albert Street and Hargest Crescent the male has approached her. He grabbed her, pushing her into a fence. He then indecently assaulted her.

The victim fought of her attacker and escaped. She made her way home where she raised the alarm with a flatmate.

The offender is described as a Male European aged in his 30's with short hair. She described him as being short in stature. He wore dark coloured clothing.

Police would like to hear from anyone in the area at this time that heard or saw anything.

Police would also like to hear from anyone who was at a function or licensed premises in the area that recognises the description of the offender.
