Parents turning up at ABC Tauranga Central on Friday may wonder what’s going on when the teachers appear with shaven heads … no worries though, it’s all in aid of Ronald McDonald House and a wee chap called Max.

Max Necklan had to leave the ABC learning centre in June so he and his family could move to Ronald McDonald House in Auckland  where Max is getting treatment for leukaemia.

Centre staff and children decided to launch a “We Heart Max” campaign to not only increase community awareness of what Max is going through but to raise money for Ronald McDonald House at the same time.

First in the chair on Friday will be teacher trainee Louise Newton who is behind the incentive.

“I’m blown away by the support that Max and his family have received at Ronald McDonald House in Auckland, they are so far away from home and going through such difficult times … “

Throughout the next few weeks children at the centre will learn about leukaemia, what it means for children like Max and what his treatment involves.

All are welcome at the centre at 76 13th Ave, Tauranga South  at 11:30 this Friday the 30th to egg on teachers and members of Max’s whanau to shave their heads.  All will be encouraged to donate a gold coin towards the work that Ronald McDonald House does.

It won’t just be all about the clippers though … there’ll be a nice spot of lunch for anyone who turns up!
