Armed Offenders Squad search for suspect in Northland

Police are currently dealing with an incident in the Kohukohu area of the Far North where a male decamped from Police whilst he was being spoken to in relation to a number of criminal and serious driving offences.

The male decamped from the ferry wharf area in his vehicle striking the Police Officer in his escape.

He was seen to be in possession of what appears to be a firearms bag together with a holster.

The Police officer has suffered lacerations to his knees and arms which are being attended to by ambulance but otherwise fine if not a little shaken.

The Armed Offenders Squad has been deployed and are now searching the area for the suspect.
