Last day to Register Dogs this Friday

Central Otago District Council is reminding residents to register their dogs by Friday 30 July 2010 to avoid a late penalty fee.

Dogs must be registered each year in July. Application forms have been sent out to all registered dog owners but if you have not received a form, or would like to register a new dog, please call Central Vets on (03) 440 2275.

Council’s Manager of Planning and Environment, Louise van der Voort said that “dogs need to be registered this month otherwise owners will get a $300 instant fine. Unregistered dogs may also be impounded. She emphasised that after 1 August there is a late penalty fee of 50% of the registration, which is all the more reason to register your dogs now.”


Registration fees are as follows:

Working dog $11.00
Pet dog $50.00

Late registration fee (after 31 July 2010) is:

Working dog $16.50
Pet dog $75.00
