Police investigating the disappearance of 32 year-old Carmen Thomas believe she has been killed and her body disposed of.

The investigation has come to this conclusion for several reasons:

  • After several weeks of public appeals and inquiries, there have not been any corroborated sightings of Carmen since June 27, 2010;
  • There is forensic evidence – blood – in her car that supports our belief that she’s been killed;
  • We believe her car was driven to Dyer St (where it was later recovered by Police) in Hamilton late on July 7 or in the early hours of July 8;
  • A recycling wheelie bin is missing from Carmen’s home address in Ngapuhi St, Remuera, though it’s not known since when.
  • Police are appealing for any sightings of Carmen’s car being driven on the night of July 7, 2010. It’s a dark Nissan Pulsar three-door hatchback, registration number ATS 209.

Any information regarding the circumstances of Carmen’s disappearance and death should go to Operation Keppel – 0800 537 735 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
