Vatuvei keeps Warriors play off hopes alive with hat-trick

The Vodafone Warriors have beaten Newcastle 22-10 at MT Smart Stadium this afternoon.

Manu Vatuvei scored his second hat-trick of the season in today's 23rd-round NRL clash.

The Warriors led the Knights 10-4 at half-time with after Vatuvei scored in the 17th and 37th minutes with the Knights pushing back through Cooper Vuna in the 23rd minute.

A Dan Tolar try and Kurt Gidley's conversion had  the game tied up at 10 all, but a 40 20 kick from Halfback Brett Seymour set up Vatuvei's third try which he scored by busting a tackle from his opposite Akuila Uate.

Bill Tupou sealed the victory for the Warriors by scoring in the 77th minute from an Ian Henderson kick.

Vodafone Warriors 22 (Manu Vatuvei 3, Bill Tupou tries; James Maloney 2 conversions, penalty).
Newcastle Knights 10 (Cooper Vuna, Daniel Tolar tries; Kurt Gidley conversion).

Halftime: 10-4 Vodafone Warriors.
