Crash closes Whitford-Maraetai road

1.55PM -- Counties Manukau police request that motorists avoid the Whitford-Maraetai road for the next two hours as the scene of a crash is cleared.

The crash occurred just after midday when a truck collided with a power pole bringing the pole down on the truck and lines down across the road. The truck driver is reported to have received moderate injuries as a result of the crash.

Traffic was initially able to use one lane however a full closure is now in place as repairs are made and the truck is removed. Motorists are advised to travel via Clevedon.

3.35PM -- The Whitford-Maraetai road has been reopened following the crash reoprted earlier. Police have received many calls in relation to the closure and thank motorists for their patience.
