Staff investigating the death of Carmen Thomas will be in Sandstone Rd, Whitford from about 6.30 tomorrow morning in an effort to firm up on a reported sighting of her car parked in the area about the time she went missing.

Uniformed staff and CIB investigators will be on the road to try to speak with motorists who regularly travel along it to find out whether any of them recall seeing Carmen's car – a dark Nissan Pulsar 3-door hatchback with the registration number ATS 209 - parked in the vicinity late in June or in the first week of July.

Officer in charge of the Carmen Thomas homicide investigation, Detective Inspector Mark Benefield, said information had come to the operation as a result of publicity over the weekend. The car was recovered in Hamilton on July 13.

"It's important we follow up on the information we've received and try to corroborate it or eliminate it as valid to our investigation as best we can and as soon as we can," he said.

Anyone with information can contact the investigation team on 0800 KEPPEL – 0800 537 735 – or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
