Fatal Train collision

At about 3.25 am on Wednesday 25th August 2010 a freight train has been travelling through the township of Tuamarina near Blenheim when it has struck a male on the track.

The train has stopped and emergency services were called to the scene.

An adult male was found dead at the scene.

Enquiries are currently underway to identify the deceased. A scene examination and investigation in relation to the victim being on the rail line is also being conducted.
