The New Zealand Wine Directory: A New Online Wine Resource

The New Zealand Wine Directory (TNZWD) is a new online wine resource, providing a directory of links to New Zealand's wine industry, related businesses and online wine community.

Wine lovers around the world use the directory as a reference tool, simplifying the task of searching for New Zealand wine websites and information online.

Company owner and director John Bartlett, has a passion for New Zealand wines and in 2006 developed the NZ Wine Links website (www.nzwinelinks.co.nz) as a way of consolidating his wine favourites / bookmarks and sharing them with others online.

Since December 2009 he and his wife Glenys have been developing TNZWD, with the website going live earlier this year with visitor numbers growing exponentially month by month.

Their approach has been to keep the concept very simple, focusing on searching for, finding and organizing NZ wine industry and online wine community websites into one, easy- to-navigate collection of links.

John said "We're passionate about New Zealand wines and are dedicated to making it easier for wine-lovers around the world to connect with New Zealand wine online. With the astronomical growth of wine producers and related businesses capitalizing on the use of the internet, e-commerce and social media, consumers often have to filter through millions of search results to find what they need? That's where TNZWD can help."

John and Glenys see TNZWD as a "Signpost rather than a Destination" where visitors to the site can connect to New Zealand’s online wine destinations, usually within a "couple of clicks."

New Zealand wine-related websites, identified or received by submission, are added to the directory, and displayed alphabetically on the site's web pages. Visitors to the site access the categorized pages and links by a simple menu system and site search.

Although in its infancy TNZWD currently lists close to 1,000 NZ wine websites: wineries, vineyards, wine tourism, online sales, people, news, reviews, events, information, social media and more - it is expected that this growth will continue on into the future.

The intention is to build a network of connected NZ wine websites, and through reciprocal links with similar websites, search engines, directories, indexes and social media such as Facebook and Twitter, promoting New Zealand's wine online to the rest of the world.
