Rodney Police say their search for the man who attempted to abduct an eight year old girl in Kumeu last week has gained momentum. The young female victim has since been fully interviewed by specialist police officers and a more detailed description of the dark skinned male offender has evolved. The man has been further described as wearing the following:

• A black hoodie pullover type, with the hood up, plus long sleeves with tight cuffs,

• A Grey tee-shirt or singlet, was being worn underneath the black hoodie,

• A cap with white peak was seen protruding from the hood,

• The dog is similar to a fully grown, black/brown coloured, german shepherd

• The black vehicle is described as having tinted windows. Possibly a spoiler at the rear.

• The female witness who went to assist the victim has been interviewed.

• Further lines of enquiry are being confidently pursued by police.

Police say the public response for information has been excellent. There have been a number of calls that have been extremely helpful. The public have provided some good information on vehicles seen in the area

Police say they are hopeful that this further detailed information will generate more calls from the public which will lead to the offender being identified and arrested. The victim is attending at school. She has the support of all her family and is coping well.
