Nelson Police Called to Two Knife Incidents within 5 Minutes

Nelson Police were yesterday called to two separate incidents involving offenders armed with knives within the space of 5 minutes.

In the first incident Police were called to the Maitai Bowling Club at 4.25pm where a male reported that he had been stabbed in the arm by a female following a domestic incident.

En route to the incident Police were diverted to a dairy in Washington Rd where a group of youths was reported in the shop threatening people with a knife and a metal bar.

Offenders from both incidents were apprehended by Police.

A 54 year old female is being held in custody overnight to appear in the Nelson District Court in the morning. She is facing several charges including Assault with a weapon, Possession of an Offensive Weapon and Wilful Damage.

Following the Washington Road incident 5 Youths aged between 8 and 12 years old have been referred to Nelson Youth Aid Section.
