WHANGAMATA

At about 1.40 a.m on Saturday the 8th September 2007 offenders have deliberately crashed a vehicle through the front windows of the Whangamata Police station.

Damage caused includes broken windows and window frames and superficial scratches and dents to the exterior and interior surrounding this area.

The vehicle was reversed into the building.

It immediately left, travelling west along Hetherington Road.

A Police Officer was in the building at the time, however the offending vehicle was out of sight before he could see it.

Prior to this a light coloured small truck with road cones in the rear tray was seen driving around Whangamata and was in the vicinity.

The occupants of this truck who were wearing reflectorised jackets, were seen talking to a pedestrian on Hetherington Road outside the police station a short time prior to this incident.

Police would like to identify this pedestrian and also the vehicle, its driver and passenger.

They may have information which will identify the offenders.

Police would like any other information that identifies the offender(s) for this offence.
Anybody with information can contact the Whangamata Police station 07 865 0300.
