Lower Hutt Police are investigating the aggravated robbery of the Wainuiomata Liquor Store on Tuesday night.

At about 9:20pm, three men with their faces concealed, entered the store next to the Carnation Dairy on the corner of Wainuiomata Road and Maire Street. They demanded money and fled with a quantity of alcohol.

Officer in charge of the investigation, Detective Jared Rowe says two of the men were armed, one with a knife, the other with a golf club.

"Once out of the bottle store, the trio ran across Wainuiomata Road, into Rimu Street and were last seen running toward Totara Street."

Detective Rowe says, "Police are concerned with the nature of this robbery, given weapons were involved. It's lucky no one was injured."

One of the offenders was wearing a grey coloured hooded sweatshirt. The second offender was wearing dark coloured clothes and the third was wearing a black puffer style jacket with a green hooded sweatshirt underneath. All were between 1.65 metres and 1.75 metres tall.

"Police want to speak with anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen anything suspicious."

Anyone with information should phone Lower Hutt Police on (04) 560 2600 or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
