CANTERBURY

Police warn motorists, particularly high-sided trucks and caravans, to take extra care on South Canterbury roads and highways due to strong north-west winds being experienced in the area.

Police urge motorists to drive to the conditions, increase their following distances and take extra care if passing heavy vehicles. The gusty weather conditions are expected to continue through to tomorrow.

State Highway One from Oamaru to Ashburton
State Highway 83 (Waitaki Lakes) from Kurow to Oamarama
State Highway 8 and 79 (MacKenzie Country) from Omarama to Geraldine
