HUNTLY

At about 11.00am on Thursday the 23rd of September 2010 an eel fisherman from Huntly working the Punga Punga swamp area approximately 750 metres to a kilometre west from the Waikato River, found a body floating in the water. It was lodged in the willows.

Police were advised resulting in the Huntly Police Search & Rescue team recovering the body.

A post mortem was completed and as part of the process the body was indentified as that of Stefan Borge Peder JENSEN aged 73 years who went missing from his home in the Pukekawa area on the 4th of June 2010.

The area in which JENSEN was found was within walking distance up river from his home.

At the time, Police Search & Rescue carried out an extensive and wide ranging search over a period of five days to try and locate JENSEN without success.

Family have been kept updated throughout the process and although obviously still upset, have had some relief in having the body returned.
