Name of deceased found in Wainuiomata on Friday released

Lower Hutt Police have released the name of the teenager, whose body was found near Black Creek in Wainuiomata on Friday morning.

The body was that of 16 year old Nikora Birch.

Detective Jared Rowe of Lower Hutt CIB says the death is not being treated as suspicious and is being referred to the Coroner. Police are confident that toxicology results will provide a more definitive cause of death.

"We are not seeking anyone in relation to the death but we do want to hear from anyone who may be able to assist with Mr Birch's movements on Thursday 30 September 2010."
