Last days before voting closes

Time is running out to vote in the local government elections.

All voting papers have been delivered and voters are reminded to complete their voting papers and post them as soon as possible.

Voting papers must reach the electoral officer in Alexandra by 12 noon on Saturday 9 October 2010.

A total of 13,568 voting papers were posted out in mid September and approximately 40% of those have already been returned.

“Although electoral rolls are now closed, people can still enrol to vote. All they need to do is request a special voting paper from our Council offices. This would equally be the case for people who have mislaid or spoilt their voting paper.” Kara Leckie, Electoral Officer says.

“The last date to enrol is Friday 8 October. I would encourage anyone who hasn’t yet registered - to do so, and cast a special vote. It’s your opportunity to have a say on how this district is run over the next three years.”
