New Lease of Life for Bannockburn Community Centre
The Bannockburn Community Centre proposed upgrade and extension is one step closer.
The funding applications to Central Lakes Trust and Otago Community Trust to assist with the cost of upgrading and extending the Bannockburn Community Centre were successful.
With the combined grants from the Trusts, together with funding provided by the Cromwell Community Board now means the project can proceed.
Mike Kerr, the Property and Facilities Manager for Central Otago District Council said “While the cost of the project is substantial, the cost will remain confidential until tenders are closed.”
The next step will be to prepare tender documents for the Bannockburn Community Centre Management Committee Inc. to confirm before calling for tenders.
The Committee is delighted the grant applications were successful and that the project can proceed.
The significant upgrade includes a new kitchen, meeting room, toilets and storage areas.
The project will be completed in time to celebrate the centenary of the Community Centre.
