Resource Consent Notified

The Clutha Gold Trail Charitable Trust is working towards the construction of the cycle trail
between Roxburgh hydro dam and Beaumont and has been successful in attracting
$2,546,000 in funding for construction of the trail.

Whilst the construction of the cycle trail does not require resource consent, it has been
identified that some of the associated works and structures do require consent, namely:
some signs, removal of indigenous vegetation, yard breaches, erection of structures in areas
identified as flood prone; and erecting structures which do not comply with the Central Otago
District Plan colour palette.

Central Otago District Council has notified the consent.

The Trust is still working with landowners to finalise the route of the trail.

The Trust has decided to follow the marginal strip where at all practicable. The Department
of Conservation is fully supportive of the marginal strip being used for the trail.
