BALCLUTHA

At around 9.25am this morning a member of the public left around 100 sticks of Dynamite on the steps of the Balclutha Police Station.

The Dynamite was sweaty, wet and thought to be unsafe. The Balclutha Police Station and surrounding area has been evacuated and cordoned off until army explosive experts travel to Balclutha and dispose of the Dynamite.

The army are expected to arrive around mid day and cordons will remain in place until they are finished.

The area cordoned off is James Street between Elisabeth and Renfrew, Paisley Street between Renfrew and Lanark Streets and Renfrew Street between SHW1 and Drumclog Street.
