Saint Clair Family Estate is proud to be a sponsor of the Garden to Table inaugural Gala
Event and Auction, held tonight (28 October). The Garden to Table programme is an
exciting new initiative for New Zealand primary schools, where children aged 7-10 will
learn to grow, harvest, prepare and share food.

All money raised at the event will go to the Garden to Table Trust to support the existing
pilot schools, and allow new schools to be funded into the programme. Wine and food will
be presented in true style to a sell out crowd of 200 people. Dishes from award-winning
chefs from Australia and New Zealand will be paired with fine wine.

Saint Clair Pioneer Block 9 Big John Riesling 2009 has been hand-selected by award-
winning chef Jonny Schwass from Christchurch, who said that the wine would be
a “perfect match for his salmon dish”. Having worked in the hospitality industry for 18
years, Jonny Schwass has shown his cooking talents internationally. Loving the challenge
of competition cooking, competing in many local and national competitions has earned him
his well-deserved reputation of the top class chef he is today.

Saint Clair owners Neal and Judy Ibbotson have shown passion towards wine and food
matching for many years. Taking every opportunity to see Saint Clair’s award-winning
wines matched beautifully with fresh produce, Judy’s passion has developed from wine
and food matching in her very own kitchen, to wider events, and even to the release of a
recipe book which matches food to Saint Clair wines.

The Garden to Table initiative is close to their hearts for the Ibbotsons, who are proud
to be a family-owned Marlborough winery and have grandchildren of their own. With
three generations involved in the Saint Clair Family Estate business, Neal and Judy see
great importance in nurturing our children, educating them about produce and creating
opportunities to experience, understand and enjoy food.

Saint Clair Family Estate award-winning wine will undoubtedly be enjoyed with the salmon
dish of Jonny Scwhass. The evening is sure to be a terrific success.
