Masterton Police seek witnesses to road rage incident
Wairarapa Police are investigating a road rage incident which left a man with a black eye and bruising to his face and head.
Detective Sue Mackle of Wairarapa CIB says at about 3pm on Tuesday 2 November 2010, the 38 year old victim was driving north along Ngaumutawa Road in Masterton in his light blue Nissan Navara.
"He was overtaken by another vehicle just north of the railway lines on Ngaumutawa Road and made a gesture towards them as they passed him."
Detective Mackle says at that point, the overtaking vehicle pulled over, as did the victim. Words were exchanged between the two drivers, before the victim was punched several times in the head and face.
"The offender is described as a clean shaven male European, about 6 feet tall, of medium build, with short black hair. He was wearing a black t-shirt and blue jeans, driving a bright yellow vehicle, possibly a Mitsubishi sedan, with a black border around the edge of the bonnet."
She says the offender was also accompanied by another man, described as male European with shoulder length hair worn loose, wearing a light coloured t-shirt.
"The offenders then left in the yellow vehicle, and allegedly made off with the victim's wallet, which contained a substantial amount of cash, leaving the victim with a black eye and bruising and swelling to face and head."
Detective Mackle says at the time of the assault, a number of cars drove past in both directions, and Police are seeking any witnesses to the incident or any other information which may assist Police in identifying the offenders.
