WAITAKERE CITY

Waitakere Police is investigating allegations of indecent assault on numerous female passengers who are commuting from Henderson into the Auckland CBD via the popular early morning Flyer Bus service.

The allegations surfaced after several passengers said they have seen a male offender placing his hand on the legs of female passengers during the journey into Auckland. Witnesses have reported that the male has positioned himself where he has been able to touch the back of a female passenger through their seat.

There are two 09 Flyer bus services early morning. The first departs Palomino Drive at 6.45am and travels into the city via Edmonton and Te Atatu Roads. It arrives at Britomart at 7.45am.  The second 09 Flyer departs Palomino Drive at 7.15am and travels the same route.  It arrives at Britomart at 8.15am.

The offender is known to have regularly used the 7.15am service. He has selected and chosen his female victims from various nationalities. The majority are aged in their 20’s to 30’s. The nationalities include Indian, Fijian Indian, European and South African.

Police believe a large number of women have been affected by the inappropriate behavior of the offender. Police urge anyone who has experienced such behavior on either of the two Flyer buses to call them immediately. Some victims may have changed their travel schedules in an attempt to avoid the offender. Police are following strong leads and have issued a description of a man they wish to talk to.
