Family members of 2 year old child found in South Auckland have contacted police.

Family members of the 2 year old child found in South Auckland have now made themselves known to police.

Police are speaking to them to establish the circumstances of how the child came to be left for such a period of time.

Until all parties have been spoken to, police are unable to comment as to whether any charges will be considered.

Counties Manukau police will be in a position to provide a more detailed media update in the morning.
