WELLINGTON CITY

Three Upper Hutt men will appear in the Lower Hutt District Court this afternoon facing several charges, following a home invasion in Khandallah last night.

Detective Senior Sergeant Donna Howard of the Wellington CIB says at around 10:45pm last night, three men with their faces concealed, smashed their way into a house in Madras Street, armed with a long sword and a wooden stick.

"The three offenders held six of the occupants in the lounge, demanding cash and property and allegedly made threats to their safety."

Detective Senior Sergeant Howard says a seventh occupant of the address woke up and made his way upstairs, however he was assaulted by one of the offenders.

"The victim then managed to flee the address to get help from a neighbour who alerted Police."

Donna Howard says all Police staff in the District were then put on alert for the offenders' vehicle, which was located by Lower Hutt Police staff at around 11:30pm, in Upper Hutt.

The three men, aged 26, 32 and 33 years face charges including aggravated burglary, kidnapping, injuring with intent to injure and threatening grievous bodily harm.

Detective Senior Sergeant Howard says the victim received hospital treatment overnight but has since been discharged.
