Kaitaia arrest on range of family violence charges

Kaitaia Police have today arrested a 50-year-old man in relation to family violence offending spanning approximately 22 years.

The man will be appearing in the Kaitaia District Court tomorrow, 12 November 2010, facing 54 charges relating to assault, sexual offences, arson and fraud.

Detective Senior Sergeant Rhys Johnston said today's arrest is the result of an investigation over the last few days by a team of 10 detectives.

"Police are unable to comment further as this matter is now before the court."
