We all feel for the families of the miners from Greymouth, the West Coast and other districts and countries, Mayor Roly Ellis said and supporting the Mayoral Fund can be our way of helping their future needs.

“We should be especially remembering the family of Francis Marden from Alfredton, he said.”

To assist people who wish to donate, Tararua District Council will have collection boxes available at all Service Centres, Libraries and the Woodville i-SITE.

Council will forward money collected so it can be used in the most appropriate manner he said.

Residents will also be able to sign a condolence book to acknowledge the families of the victims and the Greymouth Community.   This book is being co-ordinated by the Department of Internal Affairs.
