Post-mortem on 17 year-old Wainuiomata teen completed

Results of a post-mortem examination carried out on a 17 year old Wainuiomata teenager this afternoon, show the preliminary cause of death to be from drowning.
Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Steve Harwood of the Lower Hutt CIB says the body of a 17 year old male was found in a creek near Rata Street, Wainuiomata, around 8pm last night.
The matter will now be referred to the Coroner.
The name of the deceased will not be released until all next of kin have been advised.
