Police investigate Opotiki homicide

Whakatane Police are investigating a Homicide which occurred this morning near Opotiki.

A man has been shot and killed at a rural address.

Police have located and arrested a man in relation to the incident.

No one else is being sought in relation to the homicide at this stage.

Whakatane Police will be having a media conference at the Whakatane Police Station in the late afternoon.

The exact time will be updated through this release during the day.

Detectives investigating the homicide have requested that helicopters stay well away from the area because down draft will contaminate the scene which is covered in bush.
