Yesterday the Roxburgh Community Board considered thirty one public submissions on the proposed water supply treatment upgrade options.

After hearing the submissions, the Board agreed to investigate the option of one treatment plant located at or near Roxburgh with a pipeline to pump the treated water to Lake Roxburgh Village.

During its closed meeting session, the Board also reviewed the tender proposals for the water treatment plant upgrade work and according to Community Board Chair Stephen Jeffery, they were very impressed with the cost effective upgrade options being offered.

The Board is keen to review the potential project costs and have asked staff to look at pricing alternatives. Concerns were raised by the Board about the long term sustainability of operating two complex water treatment plants for the community. The results of the review will be presented to the Board early in the New Year.
