Truck crash closes Lewis Pass

5.59am - Police, Fire amd Ambulance are currently attending a report of a truck and trailer unit having rolled on State Highway 7 on the Lewis Pass, between Horseshoe Lake and Glynn Wye Station, at Kakapo Brook Bridge. It is believed that the driver of the truck has suffered only minor injuries.

The road is completely blocked, and it is believed that a crane will be needed to clear the crash scene before the road can be re-opened.

Motorists are urged to either delay their travel plans or use an alternate route as it could be several hours before the crash scene is cleared.

A further update on the estimated re-opening time will follow when it can be more accurately ascertained.
